How should I store my injectable ketamine prescription?

Updated this week

Your injectable ketamine medication is shipped in temperature-controlled packaging to keep it safe until it arrives. Here’s how to store it once it’s in your hands.

Storage Guidelines

Shelf-life

  • Millers Pharmacy

    • Unopened, room temperature (20°–25 °C / 68°–77 °F): 30 days

    • Unopened, refrigerated (2°–8 °C / 36°–46 °F): 60 days
      (recommended to extend shelf life)

    • Once opened (punctured) and refrigerated: 28 days

  • A&O Pharmacy and Louisville Compounding Pharmacy

    • Unopened, room temperature (20°–25 °C / 68°–77 °F): 60 days
(may arrive without cold packs since refrigeration is not required)

    • Once opened (punctured), room temperature: 28 days

Best Practices

  • Write down the date you first open your vial so you know when the 28-day window ends as the 28-day window starts once the vial is opened, regardless of how long it was stored before.

  • Do not use your medication after its Beyond Use Date (BUD) has passed.
