What is the role of a Peer Treatment Monitor (PTM)?

A Peer Treatment Monitor's (PTM) presence is required to monitor your safety and assist you during your sessions. They should also be prepared to contact your guide for any non-emergency concerns and call emergency services if necessary, although this is highly uncommon.

You can download our PTM toolkit for helpful resources to support you in finding your PTM, including conversation guides and outreach templates. If you’re inviting someone to be your PTM, share this guide with them. It outlines their role and what to expect during your sessions.

During your Prep session, your PTM must be present on the call with you and your Guide. The Guide will speak directly with your PTM, exchange contact information including the rapid response line, and confirm their responsibilities before your dosing session. If your PTM cannot attend the Prep call, your session will be rescheduled.

Your PTM must also be present with you during your dosing session. If you complete your Prep call at one time and take your medication later the same day, your PTM must be physically present for both — they cannot attend only one or the other.
