Do I need a Peer Treatment Monitor (PTM)?

Updated this week

Yes, you'll need a Peer Treatment Monitor (PTM).

A PTM is a trusted individual who supports you during your sessions by ensuring a safe and focused environment. This could be a partner, family member, or close friend. Unlike Mindbloom guides who help integrate your program experience, PTMs serve as safety monitors on-site to assist you if needed during treatment.

Their presence is required to monitor safety and assist during the session. They should be prepared to contact your guide for non-emergency concerns and call emergency services if necessary (despite being highly uncommon).

The PTM’s Role:

  • Starting a 60-minute timer when treatment begins.

  • Visually checking in every 15 minutes to monitor your condition, intervening only if support is necessary (no talking or physical touching unless required).

  • Prompting you to journal when the 60-minute timer completes.

  • Reminding you to reconnect with your Mindbloom guide on Zoom at the scheduled time (Session #1 only).

  • Assisting you to the bathroom to ensure stability if needed.

What if I do not have a PTM?

If you lack a PTM, you'll need to reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before the appointment time. You can also contact us to reschedule your appointment.

If personal connections are unavailable, you can hire a PTM through caregiving platforms such as Care.com. While Mindbloom does not partner with or endorse specific platforms, these resources can help locate qualified support.

Note that hiring is your responsibility. Additionally, if no guide is available for your initial Mindbloom treatment session within seven days, schedule the soonest possible time. Waiting one week after your consultation often allows enough time for the delivery of required items, including your medications and Bloombox.
